Goals Planning Ideas for Mum Bloggers 2021

Goal planning ideas for Mum Bloggers

Happy New Year!! ohhh 2020 was a bit of a washout! What with the pandemic, kids being homeschooled for most of the year, hubby being unwell (recovering now), no travelling or returning home for Christmas and a few other lows along the way.  I’m not sure whether to cry or laugh over 2020 so decided to be thankful.  Thankful that we made it through the year!!

I have written this post with my fellow Mamas in mind who maybe feeling a little overwhelmed with the whole blogging and taking care of their family. The aim of this post is for you to start thinking about some of your own goals for 2021 that will really help you to get back on your feet and start or continue with your blog.

To help make 2021 your successful year for your blog, I have put together some goal ideas you can adopt for your own goal setting plan and free printable worksheets to help you to get started. Feel free to download them and share among your blogging friends.

Blogging Goals

Here are some suggestions to help you to get started with thinking about your goals for your blog in 2021.

Aim for a blog post once a week

If possible try and aim and write at least one blog post a week depending on the type of blog you are running and who your audience is.  This article is written with mums in mind so some weeks you may not get one blog post out, and other weeks you become super Mama blogger.  Try to remember why you started your blog and where possible try to commit some time to it each week.

Sort out your legal pages

You may have all ready done this, in which case you can skip this goal but if you haven’t then I recommend that you don’t skip this goal.

Your legal pages are important especially if you are using affiliate links, ads, collecting info like credit cards or emails etc. All websites are required to have certain policies in place. Depending on the nature / style of your blog  you may be required to have other legal pages. Therefore,  contact an attorney for advice. I am not an attorney and I am not proving legal advice. I am just outlining some of the policies which are maybe required.

Disclaimer Policy and Disclosures                                Cookie Policy                                                                Terms of Use                                                                  Privacy Policy

There are many places over the internet where you can purchase these legal documents from an attorney.   Wordpress also offer a plugin called WP Legal and for a small fee you have access to 25 policy templates. For more information on what legal policies you require contact an  attorney.

Create a branded look for your blog

Years ago when I heard the word “brand” I would picture a big corporations like Nike and apple. Now, however bloggers and small businesses are create a brand for themselves.

Creating a branded look for your blog isn’t just about having  a color scheme, a font, or logo.   It is dictating how people perceive your blog, whether they connect with your mission and values and being able to identify you on different platforms.

There are many online tools you can use for free or paid to help you create a branded lood for your blog.  Such tools include : illustrator, photoshop  Visme, Adobe Spark, Design Wizard, and PicMonkey.  For those new to design, I recommended Canva.  Canva is a graphic design platform, used to create social media graphics, posters, presentations, documents and other visual content. They offer many templates which are ready to  use and offer free and  paid subscriptions. Check out Brand Your Blog: A Step-By-Step Guide by Robyn Roste

Start an email List

Building an email list will help you to build relationships with potential customers. People pay more attention to something that lands in their email inbox than something they see on Instagram, which will be gone.  The email will stay in your potential customer inbox.

The first sept to starting an email list is to choose your email marketing provider.  There are many options, the ones I see most  bloggers using are Mailchimp and ConverKit.  They both have free and paid options.  For instance ConvertKit is free up to 1000 subscribers which is great when starting out.

Once you have your maketing email provider sorted you can start building your email list.   I recommend watching this short video from Neil Patel who talks about building an email list fast

Other goal ideas

Some other goal blogging ideas that I want to mention but not go into too many details in this post includes:

Pinterest (if your are not all ready on Pinterest).  Pinterest acts as a great free Marketing platform where you can share your blog posts.  Tailwind and Canva are great websites to help assist in creating your Pins and Scheduling them.

Affiliate Marketing – Affiliate marketing is one of the most popular ways bloggers make an income! You would promote an affiliate link with products/services you enjoy or recommend.  When someone followers your link you will receive  a small commission if a sale is made.

Go back and update old posts – This is good for days when you want to work on your blog but don’t  have much time.  This may include:

  • Adding opt in forms to grow your e-mail list.
  • Adding some freebies.
  • Adding some affiliate links.
  • Working on your SEO.
  • Updating content such as writing and images.
