Monkey Mountain
If you love monkeys then Kam Shan Country Park is your place to be. Kam Shan Country Park also known as ‘Monkey Mountain’ or ‘Monkey hill’. It was named as Monkey Mountain because as soon as you step inside the country park you will be surrounded, by roaming monkeys.
Kam Shan Country Park has more than just monkeys. The park covers an area of around 3.37 km². Kowloon’s four main reservoirs occupy much of the park’s territory therefore offering a number of nature trails from family trails to more advanced trails. For adventurous explorers there are many exciting hiking, jogging and mountain biking trails that run out of Kam Shan. There are also barbecue and picnic areas, all of which are easily accessible from Tai Po Road next to Kowloon Reservoir.
Words of Warning:
There are many warning signs asking visitors to NOT feed the monkeys, however I see many people feeding them. This has become a problem as the monkeys now are known to come up close to visitors becoming aggressive and snatching things from visitors. So please respect the rules of the country park and be careful when holding drinks or food.
