When is Mother's Day?
Okay, I admit that I have written this post super late for this year but the good news it is early for next year! So, living in Hong Kong I get the benefit of having two Mother’s days. Yay two. But why?
Mother’s day also known as Mothering Sunday In the UK takes place on the fourth Sunday of Lent and was traditionally a day on which Christians were encouraged to visit their “mother church”. However, now Mother’s day is a time for sons and daughters to celebrate their mothers. This year in the UK Mother’s day was on the 22nd March 2020.
Being British, I always celebrate the UK Mother’s day. Spending Mother’s day away from my own mum can be tough but we still find away to celebrate. In addition, having my own children here helps to make it a joyful occasion.
In Hong Kong, Mother’s day is the same day as in the US, which is always the second Sunday in May. This year Mother’s day is the 10th May 2020.
Mother’s day in the US wasn’t originally connected to religion and now the same as the UK its a day for sons and daughters to celebrate their mothers.
