What is Pixi Glow Tonic 5% Glycolic Acid?

According to Amazon Pixi Glow is a  miracle-working toner which helps to brighten the complexion resulting in a healthy glow. This toner is formulated with 5% glycolic acid.  The glycolic acid exfoliates, brightens and smoothes skin by removing excess oil and dirt from the pores. Aloe vera, ginseng, and botanical extracts also work together to nourish and treat, revealing an improved complexion.

Who is it for?

This toner is gentle on all skin types however you may feel a slight sting feeling if you are not used to glycolic acid.  Best for Oily, acne-prone skin, or skin stressed out due to make-up, pollution, stress

Appearance and Texture

Comes in a rose gold looking plastic bottle and  has a lightweight water base, like most toners.

Suggested Use

Apply both morning and night with a cotton pad after cleansing.  if you have sensitive skin, then you should use once a day or once every other day.

My verdic

I decided to test this product from Pixi as I’ve read so many good reviews about it. Most reviews said this toner made their skin glow and helped to refine the appearance of pores. Sounds brilliant. This is exactly what my skin needs!!.

The key ingredients include

  • Glycolic Acid – (5%) exfoliates
  •  Ginseng – improves circulation & energizes
  • Aloe Vera -soothes & hydrates
  • Fructose & Sucrose –  brighten (source Pixi)

When I first started using Pixi glow toner, I felt a slight stingy sensation.  It didn’t cause any redness or pain and after a few days, my skin got used to it.  A slight reaction to the ingredient may occur if your skin isn’t tolerant to chemical exfoliants. If that’s the case, I’d recommend using it in the evening before bed, to begin with.  That way if you did get a reaction, it should ease by morning.

I used this toner after cleansing and before moisturizing/sunscreen (morning) and night cream (evening).  While I couldn’t smell it, there is some fragrance added to the toner. There is also some colorant added. Chances are, you already know how your skin may react to this. Either way, if you have sensitive skin it is better to do a patch test first. The Glycolic acid comes at 5 percent, this is gentle enough that it can be used daily by some people.

It rarely happens that I can see an effect of a product, but this toner appears to be working! Before using this toner I had some acne scarring which has reduced and my skin feels healthier. Yet, I haven’t got the glowing look yet.  I guess it would work better for mixed/oily skin. Mine is drier. Still, I have seen some improvement and will use this product again in the future. I have another glycolic acid that I want to try before repurchasing the Pixi one. Full review comparing the both coming soon.

If you do find this product is not suitable for your skin, try using it on your feet. The sole area which often becomes hard and dry.  You will be surprised how smooth the sole of your feet become.
